Data stored for generated prank links

When a creator generates a link, LocationPrank stores a random link identifier, the latitude, longitude and zoom selected by the creator, a short public location label, the reveal image identifier, an optional custom image path, the reveal message, the selected start mode, the creation time, and a basic view counter.

The local build stores that configuration in SQLite. The prank database has no fields for phone numbers, IP addresses, advertising identifiers, browser fingerprints, camera data, microphone data, contact lists, or the viewer's real location. A custom reveal message is stored exactly as the creator enters it, so creators must not put personal or sensitive information in that field.

Location search and map requests

When a creator searches for a place, the search words are sent through the LocationPrank server to the OpenStreetMap Nominatim service. A normalized search phrase can remain in the server's temporary memory cache for up to 15 minutes. The tool returns public place results. When the map is visible, the browser requests map tiles from OpenStreetMap infrastructure. Those external services and the hosting provider can receive normal network information such as an IP address and browser headers under their own policies. Production hosting retention will be documented before public launch.

Cookies, analytics, and advertising

The current local build does not use analytics, advertising, or marketing cookies. If those services are added before public launch, this policy and the consent interface must be updated before they are enabled.

Retention and removal

Generated prank records and custom uploads remain available until they are removed during maintenance or in response to a valid abuse request. A public removal channel and practical retention period will be finalized before launch.

Phone-form mode

If a creator chooses the phone-form start, the number entered by the recipient remains only in that browser field. The same rule applies to the homepage phone demo. The field is cleared before the animation starts, the number is not included in an API request, and it is not stored in the prank database.

Children and sensitive uses

Do not use LocationPrank to frighten someone, claim an emergency, impersonate police or medical services, or target a child with a deceptive message. The tool is intended for light entertainment between people who are likely to understand the joke.
